Torres Small, Hagedorn Introduce Bipartisan Bill to Secure Funding for Rural Health Providers During the COVID-19 Pandemic – Press Release (May 22, 2020)
Las Cruces, NM – Today, U.S. Representatives Xochitl Torres Small (D-NM) and Jim Hagedorn (R-MN) introduced the bipartisan Save Our Rural Health Providers Act to ensure part of COVID-19 relief funding is dedicated to supporting rural healthcare providers across the country and in New Mexico. The bill’s companion has been introduced by U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS), and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK).
Torres Small, Johnson Introduce Bipartisan Farming to Support States Act – Press Release (May 20, 2020)
Las Cruces, NM – Today, U.S. Representatives Xochitl Torres Small (D-NM) and Dusty Johnson (R-SD), both members of the House Agriculture Committee, introduced bipartisan, bicameral legislation to address the urgent issues facing America’s agriculture economy and food supply chain caused by the COVID-19 public health emergency. Specifically, the Farming Support to States Act would provide states access to immediate, flexible funding to ensure farmers and rural businesses have the tools needed to respond and rebuild. U.S. Senators Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), Susan Collins (R-ME), and Angus King (I-ME) introduced bipartisan companion legislation in the Senate.

Torres Small Continues Virtual Outreach, Hosts Roundtable with Local Law Enforcement – Press Release (May 19, 2020)
Las Cruces, NM – Today, Rep. Xochitl Torres Small (D-NM) hosted a virtual roundtable with local law enforcement officers to discuss the unprecedented challenges they are facing on the front lines. Participating on the call were representatives from the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office, and the city police departments serving Las Cruces, Sunland Park, and Anthony. During the conversation, they outlined the ways law enforcement is adjusting its operations to keep themselves and our communities safe, particularly as New Mexico begins to reopen.
