Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Xochitl Torres Small (NM-2) released the following statement after voting in support of H.Res 489, a resolution condemning the President’s inflammatory tweets directed at freshmen members of Congress:

“In order for us to work together, we have to stop demonizing each other, but we also have to call out bad actions. Telling any citizen of the United States to ‘go back to their country’ is racist. We should expect more out of each other if we want to move our country forward. I came to Washington to work on behalf of the people of New Mexico to expand rural health care access and economic opportunity, and I encourage the Leadership of both parties and all my colleagues to join me in those efforts.”
