Rep. Torres Small Named Chairwoman of Homeland Security Committee’s Oversight, Management, and Accountability (OMA) Subcommittee

Washington, DC – This week, Representative Xochitl Torres Small (NM-02) was elected by her colleagues on the House Homeland Security Committee to be Chairwoman of the Oversight, Management, and Accountability (OMA) Subcommittee.
“The border is my home, and as the only member on the House Homeland Security Committee from a southern border district, I look forward to bringing the voices of those who live and work in border areas to the table,” said Torres Small. “As Chairwoman of the Oversight, Management, and Accountability (OMA) Subcommittee, I plan to shed light on inefficiencies that are creating real challenges along the border, like CBP retention rates and its hiring process.”
The Oversight, Management, and Accountability (OMA) Subcommittee is responsible for oversight and legislative activities regarding Department of Homeland Security headquarters, including Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) hiring, law enforcement retention, and eliminating wasteful spending. Additionally, the OMA Subcommittee oversees the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), including New Mexico’s FLETC Office of Artesia Operation (OAO).
