Congresswoman Torres Small Praises Produced Water MOU between New Mexico’s Environment Dept and New Mexico State University

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Torres Small issued the following statement following the public announcement of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between New Mexico’s Environment Department and New Mexico State University that will create a trans-disciplinary, public-private Produced Water Research Consortium (PWRC). The PWRC will advance scientific research and technology development necessary to guide statewide regulation of treated produced water uses outside the oil and gas industry:

“We can build an energy future that works for all of us by tapping into innovative measures that conserve the water we all need. The Governor’s announcement of the MOU with New Mexico State University and the large private investment will fuel this cutting-edge research. Our nation’s greatest minds can use technology to remove contaminants from produced water, ensure that water meets the highest standard, and helps address the growing scarcity of our most precious resource,” Torres Small said.
