Las Cruces, N.M. – On Monday, U.S. Representatives Xochitl Torres Small (D-NM) and Rob Bishop (R-UT), members of the House Armed Services Committee, introduced the Defending Against Rosatom Exports Act to ensure the caps on imports of uranium from the Russian Federation are maintained, protecting the U.S. energy market and our economy from Russian manipulation.
Las Cruces, NM–Yesterday, Congresswoman Xochitl Torres Small (NM-02) led a bipartisan letter calling on Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt to issue a rule that would give oil and gas operators the flexibility to temporarily shut in their wells during the COVID-19 public health emergency. The office of New Mexico’s State Land Commission issued a similar rule to be applied to state land that received support from both environmental groups and the energy industry.

“I’ve consistently opposed a fracking ban because if we shut down oil and gas drilling in New Mexico today, we’d have to shut down our schools tomorrow. I will continue to support responsible energy production in the district, including one of the country’s largest sources of oil and gas in the Permian Basin.”
