Washington, D.C. –Today, Representative Xochitl Torres Small (NM-02) and Rep. Steven Horsford (NV-04) introduced the Back on Your Feet Act, which would extend federal unemployment assistance and provide a benefit to those reentering the workforce during the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, the legislation would provide a one-time federal payment, or “Back on Your Feet Pay” of $3,600 for workers who are able to return to work safely, to smooth their transition back to work and provide for basic needs until they get their first paychecks.

Washington, DC –Today, Rep. Xochitl Torres Small’s (NM-02) bipartisan Great American Outdoors Act overwhelmingly passed the House by a vote of 310-107. The legislation will permanently and fully fund the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), and President Trump has signaled his support. The legislation will also address the deferred maintenance backlog across federal land management agencies in New Mexico and across the country. The Senate passed this legislation on June 17th, 2020, and the President is expected to sign the bill into law.
